We had four at our meeting this week.  It was good to be there.  Most of us had a good week.  I (Debbi) had an eye-opening week.  I went to the library and discovered that reading is one of the habits that contributed to my weight gain.  So, while I have decided to finish the books I got last week at the library, I won't be getting any mew ones next week.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;We didn't discuss chapter two this week.  Instead we delved into a few side topics.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;One of those topics was our meetings - the fact that discussing our weight and health issues with others who have the same issues, is encouraging.  We can come to our meetings to get encouraged or reenergized.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;Another topic was kind off the health issue - that was dressing attractively no matter what your size and shape.  There was a bit of a rant about pretty girls and women - no matter what shape or size - who still manage to find clothes that make them look terrible.  Even with some excess weight, we can still find pretty or fashionable clothes that enhance the good features.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;The third topic was serving healthier foods at get-togethers.  With the holidays coming soon - way too sonn for my tastes - we'll be eating more, and attending social functions that expose us to more fod.  We talked about using "light" and "low-fat" sour cream in dips.  One of the women uses half "low-fat" and half "light" to reach a happy medium.  Another suggestion was a punch made from light cranberry juice and diet lemon-lime soda.  Very tasty.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;All in all, it was a good meeting.  We missed those of you who couldn't make it. Five of us were able to be there.  Some of us - as usual  - had a really good week and others had a so-so week.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;One of the main things we discussed this week is the concept of writing down what we do.  This is used in many forms by our members - from writing down everything we eat to keeping a quick daily journal of how we did.  Journaling is a major factor in successful weight loss and maintenance.  When we know how we're doing, we can draw encouragement from that or we can make corrections as needed.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;Dr. Phil starts his book with this quote:  "Change can come in either of two important ways: Start behaving positively or stop behaving negatively."  It's his own saying, of course.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#6666cc;"&gt;Chapter one is a quick overview of what needs to be done for permanent weight loss, including his seven keys.  After ridding ourselves of the "overpowering sense of urgency and panic," we can move on to right attitudes, thoughts and habits - for life. I am hoping this will be a positive addition to our weekly meetings - and maybe a way for folks interested to check us out and see what we're about.  &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;We had our first meeting on September 10 - after two months off.  Four of us attended.  We had a good time of journaling, sharing our summer and stating where we want to go from here.  Summer was busy for all of us - from a new grandbaby, to knee surgery, to an injured hubby home for three weeks, to six kids home all summer.  It seemed that we were all glad to be back.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;I for one would like to say I missed the camaraderie and encouragement of our meetings this summer.  When we cancelled for two months, I panicked.  Some weeks it had seemed that all I did right was go to the meetings.  If I didn't have them, I had nothing.  Over the months, though, I found that I do have some good habits established.  That was nice to discover.  It's still good to be back, though.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;So, here's how a blog works.  Read what was posted for the week, then you can click on the bottom of the post at "0 Comments" - or however many comments there are - to read others' comments or post your own.  All you do to post a comment is type in the little window, then click on the "Anonymous" button, then click on "Log-in and Publish."  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;This coming Saturday, we will be meeting once again in the Iliamna room at the hospital.
